Good Afternoon everyone!
 
I wanted to extend an invitation to you all to join Athens Sunrise for our annual Murder Mystery Dinner Theater! This year's play is titled, The Last Luau and is written by our own Rotarian, Eva Bloom of the Ohio University Credit Union.  Please extend this invitation to your club as well- this is a great event that is so much fun!

There will be a three act play, dinner, dessert, specialty cocktails for our Hawaiian theme, as well as raffle to win a week-long stay in Key West (separate ticket $20).

Bruce Wentworth named "2019 Rotarian of the Year"
The "Athens Rotary Club Rotarian of the Year" is reserved for the club member who best exemplifies the fellowship and the ideals of Rotary as interpreted in the Rotary motto, "service above self".  The 2019 Award was presented to Bruce Wentworth at the Annual Holiday Party on Dec. 2, 2019.
   Bruce Wentworth received the award primarily for his leading the project to restore the Rotary Centennial Fountain located at the Athens Community Center.  The story on the history of the Rotary Centennial Fountain is posted here (note Bruce is mentioned) and the story on the Restoration Project is posted here (where Bruce essentially tells the story).  
Bruce Wentworth was exemplary in putting his experience as an architect to work in service to the community by leading this restoration project to completion this year.   Thank You Bruce!

Split the Pot Contest #37
The winner of the weekly Athens Rotary Foundation Scholarship split the pot contest on December 16, 2019 was Jody Harris.  Jody collected the weekly split of $21 and then cut the 7 of Clubs from the deck of cards.  So, the contest will continue in January beginning with $489 in the accumulated pot and 29 cards in the deck.
 
The winner of the weekly Athens Rotary Foundation Scholarship split the pot contest on December 9, 2019 was Mark Hutchinson.  Mark collected the weekly split of $22 but failed to collect the accumulated pot when he cut the Jack of Clubs from the deck.  So, the contest will continue next week with $468 beginning in the accumulated pot and 30 cards in the deck.
 
The winner of the weekly Athens Rotary Foundation Scholarship split the pot contest on November 25, 2019 was, for the first time in three months, the pooling players at  Dave Palmer's table.  Don Fucci represented the table and collected the weekly split of $16 but failed to collect the accumulated pot when he cut the eight of Clubs from the deck.  So, the contest will continue December 9th with $446 beginning in the accumulated pot and 31 cards in the deck.
 
The winner of the weekly Athens Rotary Foundation Scholarship split the pot contest on November 18, 2019 was Ed Zatta.  Ed collected the weekly split of $22 but failed to collect the accumulated pot when he cut the three of Diamonds from the deck.  So, the contest will continue next week with $430 beginning in the accumulated pot and 32 cards in the deck.
 
The winner of the weekly Athens Rotary Foundation Scholarship split the pot contest on November 11, 2019 was Ed Peterson.  He collected the weekly split of $20 but failed to collect the accumulated pot when he cut the five of Diamonds from the deck.  So, the contest will continue next week with $408 beginning in the accumulated pot and 33 cards in the deck.
 
The winner of the weekly Athens Rotary Foundation Scholarship split the pot contest on November 4, 2019 was Leslie Flemming.  Leslie collected the weekly split of $20 and then cut the six of Spades from the deck of cards.  So, the contest will continue next week with $388 beginning in the accumulated pot and 34 cards in the deck.
 
The winner of the weekly Athens Rotary Foundation Scholarship split the pot contest on October 28, 2019 was Shane Jarrett.  He collected the weekly split of $20 but failed to collect the accumulated pot when he cut the Jack of Diamonds from the deck.  So, the contest will continue next week with $368 beginning in the accumulated pot and 35 cards in the deck.
 
The winner of the weekly Athens Rotary Foundation Scholarship split the pot contest on October 21, 2019 was Dave Diggle.  Dave collected the weekly split of $23 but failed to collect the accumulated pot when he cut the five of Hearts from the deck.  So, the contest will continue next week with $348 beginning in the accumulated pot and 36 cards in the deck.
