Athens' Rotary Frontline Appreciation Project
Photo from Pres. Sheila MarkClick on the photo to view the album.

The two Rotary Clubs in the city of Athens [Athens (noon) Rotary Club and Athens Sunrise Rotary Club] are collaborating on a project named: The Frontline Appreciation Project.  Its purpose is to thank Athens front-line workers, as well as locally owned businesses, for their extraordinary efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Perennial plants from White's Mill were recently purchased to give to our local healthcare workers.   President Sheila Mark reports that the recent project-event (June 29, 2020) was a great success!  Rotarians, children of Rotarians, and friends of Rotarians decorated signs to place at the entrances and walkways at Ohio Health O'Bleness Hospital to thank the healthcare workers for their service during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Click on the photo above to see an album of photos from Pres. Sheila taken at the event.  Pres. Sheila suggests, if you look closely, you may notice the special expressions on the faces of the medical workers who received perennials.

International Students are having a difficult time this summer in Athens because of the pandemic.  The Athens Rotary Club has joined other individuals, institutions, and charity organization in Athens, to help out.  Rotarians Betsy Baringer, Diane McVey, and Pres. Sheila Mark and her husband Max Mark joined a food drive on Monday Jun. 22, donning masks and greeting the donors (See photo above).  Pres. Sheila reported that there was a "wonderful turn-out.   Thanks so much to everyone who came by and sent food and personal care items, as well as money.  We filled 2 vehicles and collected about $900.  Everyone thanked us for being there and it felt so good to know we are part of such a generous community that rallies around our students in such a difficult time, difficult for us all."
There are plans to repeat the event several times during this summer at specific times to be announced.  Interested person's can donate money by sending a check made out to The Athens Rotary Foundation with memo: International Student Emergency Fund.  Send the check to our Treasurer:
