Virtual Meeting Tomorrow, May 18, 12 Noon
Dani Underhill, President, Athens Chamber of Commerce will be our speaker.  The meeting will be hosted again by President Elect, Sheila Mark Note the virtual meeting will begin at 12 Noon.  We will adjourn at 1 PM, but are able to carry the meeting longer for anyone who wishes to stay on to chat.
Brief note by President Elect, Sheila Mark on last week's virtual meeting:
Special thanks to Kelly Jarrett, who agreed to speak at last week's virtual meeting on very short notice.   Kelly told us about Ohio Health's recently acquired  Mobile Mammography Unit.  As many of you know, Kelly is the wife of Shane Jarrett, our current Community Service Chair and soon to be our President Elect.  Kelly gave attendees a virtual tour of Ohio Health's Mobile Mammography Unit facilities and explained the extent of the mobile-unit's capabilities and services provided to S. E. Ohio.
Dr. Gaskell, our Health Commissioner, gave an update on COVID-19 in Athens County and Mayor Steve Patterson gave an update on concerns of The City.
Sorry that I (Roger Rollins) mislead you by declaring in last week's e-Bulletin that there would not be a virtual meeting.  As far as I knew, we had not been able to confirm a speaker by late last Sunday afternoon.  Never-the-less, a very informative meeting did indeed take placeSo, I highly recommend you join our virtual meeting tomorrow since we all benefit from each other's presence and you should not want to miss out!
So again, to join the meeting, click on the URL in your invitation email (or the copy below).  If this is your first Zoom meeting, it will prompt you to download the Zoom software (if you have not already done so).  It is recommended that you start your sign-in about  5-10 minutes before the meeting.  Note:  Sheila Mark reports that we have upgraded to the Zoom Pro Edition so that the length of the meeting is essentially unlimited by Zoom.  However, should you unexpectedly get cut-off from the meeting, whether because of poor internet connection or because unexpected Zoom behavior, simply re-join the meeting as you did at the start.
For first timers, Marcia Chadly has a great video on You Tube showing you how to use Zoom: .  You might want to watch this before Monday and try a Zoom meeting with friends or family.
The following is a "copy" of the invitation for tomorrow's meeting.  Feel free to forward  this invitation to family members, friends or colleagues that you would like to invite to join us.
Sheila Mark is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting on Monday, May 18, 2020 at noon:

Memorial for Ernst
As you may know, Rotarian Ernst Breitenberger passed away on April 30, 2020. He was a champion of Rotary. After researching administrative costs of non-profit organizations, he reported that The Rotary Foundation had the lowest (zero) administrative costs of many popular charities and was his choice for giving.

In honor of Ernst’s long-time service to Rotary, let’s make a donation to The Rotary Foundation in his honor. Please send a check for $5 or $10 to me at:
Sheila Mark
Make the check payable to
The Rotary Foundation with “Breitenberger memorial” in the memo. I will send them to the Foundation.  All together, they should add up to a respectable sum. I’ll then notify his family of our commemoration.
We’ll miss Ernst’s quiet presence at our meetings, as well as the stimulating conversations he engaged in enthusiastically.
Rotarians Work at Camp Rotan
Rotarians made a big dent in the Autumn Olive Grove at Camp Rotan. These invasive plants are very aggressive and choke out native plants. Cutting them does not suffice, as they are extremely proficient at resprouting. We had to dig them out😅. Thanks to Mayor Steve Patterson, Mike Noel, Alan Boyd, Diane McVey with her husband & son, Tara Gilts with her son, John Miller, Shane Jarrett with his wife & 2 children, Jeanne Heaton, and Sheila Mark with her husband. We had perfect weather and saw some spectacular wild flowers and ferns, along with some other flora & fauna.  See the photos in the photo journal.
