Virtual Meetings begin Tomorrow Apr. 6!
Rotary Complies With Social Distancing

In response to the novel corona virus, our Club’s face-to-face meetings have been canceled at least to the end of April.  Please continue to stay safe and shelter in place.  In order to maintain contact and continuity with our Rotary family, we will have virtual meetings using the Zoom platform.  Our first one is tomorrow, April 6, 2020 at 12:20 PM.  We are using the free, basic Zoom program until we see how well it works for us, so our meetings are limited to no more than 40 minutes.

We will try to follow our regular meeting format as closely as possible.   None of us is an expert on Zoom, so nothing is guaranteed!!  If something can go wrong, it will!!  Mike Noel, Alan Boyd, and Sheila Mark have been practicing hosting and joining meetings with some success, but try as they might, they cannot get Alan connected properly in order to lead the National Anthem. He is going to try to get help from his daughter this weekend, so we hope he’ll be able connect by Monday.   If not, we may have to skip the National Anthem.  We’re such bad singers and our pianist adamantly refuses to try to play the piano online. He says he hates the Internet. 😂

Our speaker this week is Dr. James Gaskell.  He’ll give us an update on the Corona Virus in Athens County.   If you join the meeting on your computer, you can enable CHAT (within Zoom) and type in questions during his talk.  There is no chat option when you join on your phone,  Please raise your hand if you have questions at the end and the host (this week it is Sheila Mark) will call on you.  If everyone tries to talk at once, the host will mute everyone and unmute the person when it’s their turn to ask a question.

To join the meeting, click on the URL in the invitation.  It will prompt you to download the Zoom software (if you have not already done so).     It is recommended that you start your sign-in about  5-10 minutes before the meeting.  Marcia Chadly has a great little video on You Tube showing you how to use Zoom:  https://youtu.be/9isp3qPeQ0E .  You might want to watch this before Monday and try a Zoom meeting with friends or family.  It’s really kind of fun.

The following is a copy of the invitation.  Feel free to forward  this invitation to family members, friends or colleagues that you would like to invite to join us.

Sheila Mark is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.
