Virtual Meeting Tomorrow, Jun 22, at Noon
Our speaker:  To be announced.

President Elect, Sheila Mark, says:  "Pres. Elect (for next Rotary year), Shane Jarrett has not yet announced the speaker, but he's sure to bring us someone interesting!"

The virtual meeting will be hosted again by President Elect, Sheila Mark Note the meeting will begin at 12 Noon.  We will adjourn at 1 PM, but are able to carry the meeting longer for anyone who wishes to stay on to chat.

To join the meeting, click on the URL in your invitation email.  If this is your first Zoom meeting, you will be prompted to download the Zoom software (if you have not already done so).  It is recommended that you start your sign-in about  5-10 minutes before the meeting.  Note:  Should you unexpectedly get cut-off from the meeting, whether because of poor internet connection or because unexpected Zoom behavior, simply re-join the meeting as you did at the start.

For first timers, Marcia Chadly has a great video on You Tube showing you how to use Zoom:  https://youtu.be/9isp3qPeQ0E .  You might want to watch this before Monday and try a Zoom meeting with friends or family.

Note: Feel free to forward your invitation-email to family members, friends or colleagues that you would like to invite to join us.

See you all on Monday at 12:00 Noon and Have your Happy Bucks ready!!

Aid for International Students in Athens
As you know, many of the international students at Ohio University are having a very hard time because of the pandemic.  Flights have been canceled, so they cannot go home.  Campus has been closed, so they don't have their jobs or internships, at least for the summer.  They are left without income, no money to pay their rent or buy food.  Of course some of them have wealthy parents or other means of support, but about 200 out of the 900 international students are in dire straights.  Their average rent is about $600 per month and it is estimated that about $500,000 is needed to get all of them through the summer.  A coalition has been formed to help them and it will take everyone working together.

The Athens Rotary Foundation can donate to The International Student Emergency Relief Fund, as the students live in Athens County.  We are having a meeting early next week to determine the amount we should donate.

In the mean time, the Athens Rotary Club is having a food drive on Monday, June 22, 2020 from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM.  We will meet in the parking lot across the street from the OU Inn.  Please wear a mask and practice social distancing.  Sheila and Betsy will open the back hatch of their cars.  Donors can place nonperishable food in our cars and we will deliver it to The Cat's Cupboard on Tuesday morning in time for distribution at 10 AM.  Last week about 75 students came for food.  The Cat's Cupboard cannot take any refrigerated food, so we plan to buy gift cards so that the students can buy meat or other items they need.  They also need personal care items such as deodorant and feminine hygiene products.   If you'd rather donate money,  please bring a check made out to The Athens Rotary Foundation or mail it to
