While rummaging thru old stories that appeared on our website, I found the following story published 14 years ago in October, 2005 (The Rotary Centennial year) posted by (now President Elect) Sheila Mark under the title Centennial Fountain:
“The Athens Rotary Centennial Fountain was dedicated to the Athens community Saturday Oct 29, 05. It was designed by Wendy Minor with architects Mike Noel and Bruce Wentworth, and it utilizes Passion Works artists by using colorful ceramic tiles that explain the 4 avenues of Rotary Service.  In Celebration of Rotary International's centennial, the Athens Rotary Club initiated a community-inspired project with four main objectives: 1, Improve the lives of a group of developmentally disabled members of the Athens Community; 2, Foster fellowship among Rotary members, their families throughout the community; 3, To enhance and raise awareness in the Athens community of many local, national and worldwide Rotary projects; and 4, To enhance the quality of life and aesthetic experience in the Athens environment. These objectives are accomplished through partnerships among the Athens Rotary Club, Passion Works Studio, and the City of Athens.”
